Calling All Future Karwick Village Residents: You’re Invited to Our Series of Information Sessions

We are happy to announce our first step in the application process for future Karwick Village residents, our information sessions this summer! This important first step is a requirement for future residents and essential for the application process.

What is an Information Session?

Living at Karwick Village is so much more than an affordable place to call home. We have chosen to structure our community as a cooperative. This means that in addition to living in the community, you have a say in how the community is run by being a member of the Karwick Village Cooperative. All residents at Karwick Village must understand that their participation in the Cooperative is mandatory, and it is done this way to build a strong community.

Our information session will focus on this cooperative aspect of our community so that all future residents can learn about how this works, your rights and responsibilities, and decide if this is the right community for them. You will also learn about other residency requirements that will help you decide if you apply when applications open in August.

Please note that all interested future residents must attend one information session to apply for residency when applications open.

Why Do Future Residents Have to Attend ONE of These Meetings?

Our mission at Homeward Bound Villages is to create community through affordable housing. In the early days of our organization, we examined affordable housing communities nationwide. We found that those adopting a cooperative model and fostering a more cohesive community achieved better outcomes for both individuals and the community as a whole. We recognize that for some, this highly engaged community format may not be a good fit; therefore, we require all future residents to attend a session to learn more before applying.

We want to explain how a cooperative community works, the expectations of each resident, and additional residency requirements so that when applications officially open, each potential resident understands what the community is and how it will operate.
