Spring has been a season of steady progress at the Karwick Village site! Since breaking ground in March, our contractors have been working diligently, and we’re excited to share some significant milestones.
Building One: Moving from Underground to Ground Level
The underground plumbing system for our first building (three units) is now complete. This is a crucial step that sets the foundation for everything that follows. The foundation of unit one has been poured. This marks a significant transition from the “invisible” underground work to the more visible progress that residents and neighbors will start to see taking shape.
Building Two: Adapting to Site Conditions
Our second building has presented some unique challenges with water levels, but our team has been proactive in addressing these conditions. We’re currently adding gravel to the foundation area to ensure proper drainage and stability. An inspection was conducted last week, and the footings for the foundation of building #2 have been poured. Walls are being formed and are ready to be poured..
Looking Ahead: Walls on the Horizon
Perhaps most exciting for those eager to see vertical progress, our wall panels are scheduled to arrive in approximately two weeks. This delivery will mark the beginning of the most visually dramatic phase of construction, when our buildings will start to take their recognizable shape.
The careful sequencing of these underground systems, foundation work, and structural elements reflects the methodical approach needed to create quality, lasting, affordable housing. Each completed step brings us closer to providing much-needed homes for our community.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this important work!
