Karwick Village Construction Snapshot: February 2026

We’re in that familiar construction rhythm at Karwick Village, finishing the details that transform our building site into a community, while Mother Nature reminds us who’s really in charge. This winter weather has been a challenge for our crews, but they’ve persevered and made progress on some work.

Phase 1: The Home Stretch

The final two foundations for Phase 1 are  nearly complete, and we’re focused on the finishing touches to prepare them for construction in Phase 2.

For our completed units, the final move-in happens any day, and there’s nothing quite like seeing families settle into safe, stable housing to remind us why this work matters. Our six families at Karwick Village are also getting ready to hold their first co-op meeting next week. This milestone is significant because it lays the foundation for how Karwick Village Cooperative operates.

What’s Left for Phase 1

  • Final sidewalk installation
  • Paving
  • Landscaping
  • Porch completion on new buildings.

The Indiana winter continues to do what it does best, testing our patience. Paving and some exterior work will resume once temperatures cooperate, but we’re making steady progress on everything we can tackle now.

Looking Ahead to Phase 2

Planning for Phase 2 is well underway. We’re moving our focus towards our Community Center. This critical space is key for those now living at Karwick Village. The community building will include a shared gathering space for the co-op to meet, as well as laundry facilities and other amenities.

We’ll share more details on Phase 2 timelines and scope as plans are finalized.

Looking Ahead:

Construction updates aren’t always glamorous or in-depth; it’s about waiting for the ground to thaw. But every sidewalk poured, and every family moving in represents real progress toward a community where everyone has a safe place to call home.
